The inclusion of the City of Derry Triathlon on the 2026 Europe Triathlon Cup calendar has been welcomed by Triathlon Ireland.

Darren Coombes, CEO of Triathlon Ireland, said the announcement reflects both the quality of the event and the ambition of its organising team.

“The City of Derry Triathlon offers a rare combination of high-performance racing, strong local delivery, and an outstanding athlete experience. Its inclusion on the Europe Triathlon Cup calendar reflects the quality and ambition of the organising team.”

The 2026 programme will see the Europe Triathlon Cup elite races take place alongside the Triathlon Ireland National Series Age Group race on Saturday 5 September, creating a unified race day that integrates international and domestic competition.

For Triathlon Ireland, the event strengthens Ireland’s presence on the European circuit while providing a clear pathway link between national series racing and international elite competition.

With Senior and Junior elite fields confirmed, the City of Derry Triathlon will provide Irish athletes with the opportunity to compete at European Cup level on home soil within a professionally delivered environment.

The event will take place within the compact city-centre venue around Ebrington Square and the River Foyle, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most accessible and spectator-friendly races on the Irish calendar.
